External Video card problem.

Hello,
i have a laptop with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and an Nvidia GT730M. Recently after installing a game it had problems with DirectX so i ran DirectX diagnostic tool to see what version is it. I noticed though that on the Display tap the Nvidia card was not shown(Screenshot applied) . I checked into device manager and there seems to be no problems i could find.If it means anything , when i run Total war Rome II and go into its settings it tells me that i have the said video card. I am suspecting the video card might have gone bad but i don't know how to check for sure. I haven't had any issues with the display of my laptop , any black/blue screens but i wan't to be sure. Is there some 3d party software or a way to check it for sure ?

If your laptop is anything like my gaming laptop, it has switchable graphics. Meaning, your system may be using your integrated graphics as opposed to your video card. I don't know your laptop model, so try looking up the manual for it to find any sort of function for switching which video card is used.

I guess my nvidia card is ok. I managed to set what video card to be used by an application via the nvidia control pannel . Some of the games i was running were set to be ran with the intel card , now thats fixed . Thanks for telling me i can about switching between the video cards .
