Ok, i'm on a pretty tight budget for a pc, $200. I have 512mb ram (256 kingston, 256 off-brand) a P4 2.53, a hdd with windows (still would need a storage hdd) and also some various pci cards for it, and CRT moniter, a keyboard & Mouse.

basically, i need a socket 478 mobo, agp GPU, a case/psu and finally a cd-rw/dvd drive. also a good hsf and artic 5.

Or, if this wouldn't be worth it i need a $200 idea for a christmas gift for me, lol!

a HDD with windows
odds are you'll need to reinstall the os so keep that in mind.

and also some various PCI cards for it

1. whats the machine for?
2. prolly not worth it
3. yer kidding about needing a place to find Arctic Silver 5 right?

- MSI 865PE Neo2V [$70]
- Linkworld 431-10 C2228 + 430W [12V@18A, $25]
- Jetway 96MX-AT-128C [R9600m, $55]
- LiteOn SOHC-5236V [$30]
Subtotal = 180

There's a bit of room there even for a upgrade to a 9600Pro.

to answer questions:

Its for basic work, and maybe a little bit of BF 1942 or vietnam.

I don't have AS5 onhand. also, if this isn't worth it, then i won't do it.

If you're building a computer, you should be able to find AS5 dude :P Its damn near everywhere :D

Oh, are u thinking i ment where i should buy AS5? no, i just wanted it included in the price, so i don't overlook anything at all.

I don't see why you need AS5 for a $200 build, I built my current PC(not in sig) for $900 and didn't use AS5. I just stuck on the stock Intel Htsink/fan and forgot about it.
