RAM Kingston 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model KVR800D2/1GR - Retail

MOTHERBOARD GIGABYTE GA-945GCMX-S2 LGA 775 Intel 945GC Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

PROCESSOR Intel Dual-Core E2140 Allendale 1.6GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E2140

this build is for my friend, he is a modest gamer, and wants to be able to overclock. (i remember the E2140 is a very rugged overclocker,)

how does this build look? after shipping and tax, its only $290, and im gonna be giving him my old antec PSU, a case i have, and he already has a hard drive and an operating system.

so what do you think? it'll be built within a month or maybe a lil longer, is it gonna be able to play all these new games @ full or really high? lol

really? thats great news.

about the 1950GT, is there any place i can look at the specs side to side to see which is definitively better? kinda like tomshardware cpu charts for a GFX card? lol

EDIT: now to humiliate myself, i didnt know that tomshardware had VGA charts too. nevermind.

does anyone know why the 2600XT is 300MHZ faster core clock but is in all actualities slower? is the quality better? whats the catch?

If you want to play the newest games you will need at least 640 megs of ram on the video card. Crysis requires that for full settings. I am running a 2600 pro and I can only play it at medium settings. So I would go with a 8800gts with the most video ram you can get.

No it wouldn't be able to play all the new games at high settings as the 2600xt isn't a great card at all. Atleast get a 8600GTS if not the 8800GT(s) if your friend wants to play new games at high settings. And if he wants to OC alot he'll need a better cooling system/heatsink and a good and stable PSU.
