Alright so I've pretty much tried everything to get this thing running faster on my desktop which has some pretty nice hardware, and I just can't seem to do it. My desktop is running windows XP..it transfers 1gb files @ around 3mbs a second or 7-10 minutes, which is complete crap (through E-sata or USB). I tried it on my dads laptop which has vista (through USB) and a 1gb file only took 40 seconds. So whats the prob with my computer? lol. I checked for virsues/spyware..everything. I've checked the indexing and I've made sure their all in UDMA mode or so I think they are. I still can't get this thing to transfer faster. Any help is very appreciated! this thing is annoying the crap out of me and I will not reformat my main HD until I find out why its so slow! =P

I was actually using E-Sata. And I also tried USB. I'm pretty sure I'm using USB 2.0 how do i verify that though?

Odds are unless your BIOS is set incorrectly, you're using USB 2.0. Windows should tell you anyway with an alert if you've got it plugged into a 1.1 slot (IE incorrectly set BIOS) or a 1.1 hub, but since you tried eSATA, odds are it's your drive that's malfunctioning

SO heres what happened. I had it working for a few days after I reformatted transferring 1 gig in like 10 SECONDS or less, ultra fast. Then today i try to transfer a folder to tests its speeds because it was acting very odd (using E-sata) and it was going at like 1 gig/10 mins again im like ohhh wow some kind of stupid error again...I finally decided to un-hook the e-sata and plugged in the USB and its normal for USB @ 1 gig / 40 seconds. My computer instantly verified the cable was hooked up also. So that means something is going on with my E-sata ports, or their E-sata CABLE! Gonna try another cable, and if that doesn't work I'm calling them tomorrow for help, AND IF THAT doesn't work I'm going to return this hunk of junk and punch my wall. Thanks for the help I should be good to go from here lol. BOOM HEADSHOT.
