i tried to overclock my desktop in my sig (333mhz celeron mendocino) just for kicks, and because i had never really attempted it before. i changed the jumper on the mobo and booted into the bios. it said processor speed "333mhz" i highlighted that and hit enter to change the speed and the only options were 266, 300, and 333. am i doing something wrong here?

Some processors are locked(can't remember of Slot Celerons are...) And some older motherboards can only support up to around 350MHz or so...

Im not sure but you might be able to do a bit of overclocking with some software, I believe ClockGen is one, give it a try and see what you can do:)

if you overclock, that makes more heat, right? i was thinking about overclocking my compaq, and my Gateway, but i think they may be locked 2.

Usually OEM companies lock the OC feature out of their mobos so u cant overclock them through the BIOS which is where it is ideal to.
