Failure To Boot

So I got my copy of Vista x64 today from my friend. Note its a legal version that his work installs on their PCs.

The issue I have is I dunno why but my SATA driver a Lite-on DVDRW LH-20A1S
Is not booting up my disks it works fine it burns and boots up the disk when its booted up but its like it doesn't work at boot up.
Its in SATA1 and previously it never had issues.

Any clue what I could do? Sorta boned on this rig till I figure it out.

They gave it to me so far as I am concerned its legal enough. Owners rights to do what he wants with what he buys.

Either case found the problem out. No wonder Vista has poor sales though.
