Falure to start up

It says "A disk read error ocurred, press ctrl+alt+del to restart" No floppy disk in, hard drive and such is connected correctly, can't get to a boot menu, and reformatting isn't an option because I have no disk and I need the information on the computer to finish part of my job by tomorrow.... PLEASE HELP!

First check your boot order and be sure the HD some how didn't get removed. If that's correct, maybe try another IDE connection in your computer, so if it'll even be detected, if not boot as a slave. You could also pop it into another computer, if you have one, to just see if it's detected.

If you still have problems(and assuming you've not updated or changed anything) the HD has either died, or your drive has just become currupt. You really need a boot disk of some sort, maybe even an XP disk. If you're running XP(and can get a disk), you could always try doing the recovery deal.
