Need help making a decision on how to control fans and monitor thermal readings:
I am building a new computer with the following:
Cooler Master 830 case
Cooler Master case fans - 7 total
Zalman CNSP9500A LED CPU fan
EVGA 780i motherboard
E8400 Intel duel Core
EVGA 8800 GTS graphic cards - 2 total
OCS 1066 2-1GB memory
Western Digital 3 gbhz 7200 rpm 320 mb - 2 total (set up in RAID ) config.
I would like to have a LCD display inserted into one of my drive bays illustrating thermal temperature of my hard drive, CPU, GPU, Memory, etc... I looked at installing a fan controller (Thermaltake Hardcano 12SE, Cooler Master Aerogate 2). I would probably set these devices on auto, because I dont want to mess with fan speed, I want the fan to speed up and slow down as temperature varies.
I know my motherboard can regulate fan speed (CPU) and you can set up in BIOS. If I use a fan controller, I am assuming the motherboard will no longer operate fan speed. There is also software (Speedfan) that can be used to view speed and thermal readings. Which of the following options below do you recommend:
1. No fan controller and let motherboard monitor temp and regulate fan speed.
2. Use "Speed fan" software, Would be kewl to integrate this into an LCD monitor you could install into the tower and see the thermal reading.
3. Use fan controller (one mentioned above-Or if you know of a better one with an auto setting please suggest one).
I do like the idea of having some lighted visual LCD reading mounted in my 5.25 slots. I was even thinking of getting a Fan control to monitor only the thermal reading and not use fan control. I guess as far as fan control, I don't want to have to dial it in everytime I use the computer.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
