fan controler question

I have the aerocool gatewatch fan controler. My question is in the bios it says the cpu is about 59C and on the controler its about 29C at idle. The sensor is on the bottom of the heatsink. Does anyone know why there is such a temp difference?

One is reading wrong to put it simply :-). by the looks of it I would suggest prob. the fan controller. have you tried a different sensor?

where would be the proper place to put the temp sensor? I thought at the bottom of the heatsink since its close to the cpu.

i just moved the case probe where the cpu one was. Im getting the same readings. My cpu cooler is a all copper one wth a 80mm fan running at 3000rpm. Now this may be a stupid question, but shouldnt the heatsink be warm to touch? Mine is pretty cool.

Yes it should be warm. Otherwise, it's not taking the heat away from the processor and dissepating it. Make sure that the heatsink is properly mounted and you have good contact with some thermal grease in between.

That really depends on how loaded the CPU (how much heat its generating) and how good your HSF is.
Make sure that the heatsink is properly mounted and you have good contact with some thermal grease in between.
That could definitely be the reason your getting such high CPU temps in BIOS and lower sensor temps.

you are not supposed to spread it on the cpu, just put a dab in the middle and install the heatsink. Is it better to do this, or spread it?

I suggest spreading it.
