I have the Lian-Li PC-K62 case. One of my top exhaust fans makes a slight grinding noise every few seconds. It's not very loud, but it's enough to be annoying. Is there any way I could fix it, or should I just replace the fan?
Most case fans use slip bearings, which wear out after a time. The grinding noise means that the bearing is wearing out and it is time to replace the fan.
You can replace it with another cheap slip-bearing fan, or you can spend a little extra for a fan with roller bearings (be sure to get one with dual roller bearings), which will last much longer.
However. My personal recommendation is to stick with the cheap slip bearing fans because then you are forced to open up your case every year or so to blow all the dust and debris out and do a thorough once-over on your machine.
Yeah I was guessing it was the bearing. And my case doesn't get very dusty anyway![]()
How long have you had that fan?Yeah I was guessing it was the bearing. And my case doesn't get very dusty anyway![]()

That didn't last long, usually they last several years. It's a Lian-Li fan that came with the case, and I got the case about a year ago.
spray some WD40 on it,lol.
I don't think I would do that.
