Fan Overkill?

I'm running a 1.8 Ghz P4, soon to be overclocked and was wondering if 5 fans was an over kill? The computer is mainly used for file storage and one in a while for a dos game or two. I'm just wondering if 5 fans is an over kill. The computer will also be a host peercast station in the future. I have 3 case fans, one processor fan, and a HD fan. The system is usually on all the time.
It's pretty damn noisy since I added the extra 2 fans. I'm decising if I need/want to keep them in there.
Thanks for your help!

hmm well if the systems on all the time then i wouldnt say its an overkill imo.

The hard drive fan probably isn't necessary. What are the sizes of the case fans and the CPU fan?

A good CPU heatsink and fan is all you really need for most machines, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you really like fans, you can find much quieter ones for decent prices at newegg.

All the case fans are 80mm and the processor fan is a bit smaller then those, so maybe 60mm? If there is no such thing as a 60mm, it might be 80... There is 2 80's in the front, and one 80 in the back.

Well, A bit of an update: I removed the hd fan and one of the noisier 80mm fans and it's considerably quiter and it's kicking out the same amount of air. Overall I'm please. Thanks again for all the help and suggestions.

at least make sure the hard drive doesn't get too hot without it. if after running for a few hours or so, touch the hard drive. if it nearly feels almost hot enough to burn you (yes, this has happened to me once in a game server pc), i'd put back on the fan.
