Fan problems.

I've been noticing that my computer was running just fine after the computer techinicians had fixed it, but I'd have to say that about a week ago, something in the tower started to make a weird clicking sound, and I can't really pin point where it maybe comming from. Some days this "Clicking" is louder than others, and on top of that, I think that the fan they may have replaced has already acting up, for it sound like it's grinding against it's gears or something ( The fan placed by the mobo to help keep those things cool ) I'm thinking that the clicking may be comming from the front of the tower, but, after listening closely, it may be from the back...

Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Any ideas on how to fix the fan? It grinds every so often, but it is rather loud and annoying when it does, and I wouldn't want another seized fan.

most likely a cable grinding up against fan..
had this happen to me i was like WtF!
then opened case and realized what was happenin...

i suggest just opening the side panel and checking if there are any cables touching you fans..

I've opened my case this morning before posting this, and didn't see any cords near or touching the fans. The clicking tha the fan rubbing/grinding almost sound like they're different problems, but I really have no clue, all I know is that clicking is rather annoying, and sometimes when the fan is grinding, it's loud, and vibrates the case. =/

Heya

It could be the fan on the graphics card. However, it could be any other fan in your case. If it's the HDD that's making the noise, then I would be worried and backup everything. However, I know from personal experience that it is extremely hard to determine the source of the sound.

Well, my computer was recently fixed, and wiped clean, all I'd really be loosing would be my very few songs, and messengers, and a few files I could easily type back up... and data from one game.

So I'm guessing that, I should take this in to experienced computer technicians to take a look at it?

unplug the powercord from the harddrive and bootup, then you can tell if the sounds coming from your harddrive, and if it is, hurry up and back up your data.

My friend had the edzact same thing. The fan was rubbing on the case. I dont think thats it for you, but just a suggestion.

Thanks, I'll give that a try later on tonight, or tomorrow morning, got some homework and stuff to do.

i would try unpluging all the fans and if its still there then it could be mabie the power supply or the cdrom drive if its not there then you know its one of the fans and plug each one back in seperately and then you will find out what one is the culprit
