fan speed on Radeon 4870 1 gb

Does anyone know if the fans on the newer Radeon cards will spin faster or slower depending on the temperature?

I know you can manually change the gpu fan speed in the catalyst control center but that will keep the speed constant. I was wondering if the card will automatically adjust the fan speed according to the gpu temperature.
 
I don't think so. I had this card for about a week now and for the first 2 days, it didn't seem to auto adjust. I just set the fan speed to 52%. You can't even hear it tbh. Then again, I'm using the Sapphire ATI Radeon 4870 1 GB Black Edition, IDK about other ones.
 
It should but....Never trust the default.

Always set your own profiles. Use Rivatuner for automatic fan cycling based off what you want vs the temps you want.
