Far Cry 2 is a very misunderstood game. People say that it is boring, repetitive, too difficult and buggy. First of all, I have beaten the game. Now that I have I can see that the people that complain about the game have not played more than 30% of it. The game only really gets started when you get down to the second area. Although you do have to drive a lot, you will get used to it. It's just like GTA but people randomly start shooting at you. That can get annoying but generally you'll just drive past them, and if you travel by boat there are not as many guard posts and therefore less people trying to murder you.
I can't say much about the graphics as my current computer (not one in sig) doesn't meet the minimum for CPU and RAM, however, the real tree effects on very high are quite realistic. The fire is also very nice looking. I love the fact that your weapons will jam, break down and misfire (rocket launchers), along with looking rusty as well. The only downside with this is that enemy weapons don't jam or break. I have also had issues where wounded enemies seem to be made of kevlar and you have to finish them off with the machete, but thats alsways fun. The buddy system is also good, especially when you forget to heal and get shot in the face. However you will magically drop your sidearm weapon and your buddy will give you something else.
Shooting wildlife can also be entertaining, along with when the run into a parked car and magically snap their neck. Animals can also alert troops to your presence.
Overall, I think the game needed to be a little more exciting during the beginning, but once you get into the game it's hard to stop. well it was for me anyway, I finished it in a week, but NOT with all the golden weapons and such. I think I will keep replaying this until I have well and truly beaten it, with all the weapons, diamonds, safe houses and upgrades.
