hey its JrDave2324, havent posted here in a while because i had everything in my computer working! oh and i had to change my name because some activation thing wasnt letting me post...but anyways....

so with my current setup FarCry always freezes during play. It'll play for a little bit and then just freeze, screen will turn black, etc. why does this keep happening? anyone got suggestions on how I can play this game. ive already tried setting the graphics level to lower settings in the game options. this seems like an awesome game and i wanna play it! please help me.

thanks

I have a love hate relationship with farcry (I love to hate it) You see I cannot play that game and if you look at my specs in my sig you'll now that's just crazy! When I play the water is pale blue and ugly the shadows are rainbowed and when I update the game with the patch then the whole screen turns blue and is unplayable! any sorry this is not about me.

Have you overclocked your card at all? I understand when you say the screen turns black but it's nice to know the etc as well :-). having the screen turn black sounds like card failure so perhaps its due to overheating, check your temps.

Yup I agree, although I can play other games such as doom 3, splinter cell and the list goes on just fine so I dont have a clue why this happens with farcry.

Are you running it in 64bit mode?

the demo I downloaded i'm sure was a reguler demo for the 32 bit operating system. I also downloaded on for the athlon 64 bit but I was not sure if I actualy need the 64 operating system but apparently I didn't :-).

So I've tried both demos and both gave me the same results.

Sorry I did not mention that I've ran the 32bit full game that a friend of mine lent me which did the same thing and I patched that. But it did run just fine with my Radeon card.

Did you reformat/uninstall the old driver b4 installing the GT?

Yup I did. I started out with a fresh instal of windows xp pro when I bought my new system. I never actualy ran my radeon card on this system but rather ran farcry without a problem on my other system which is.

-AthlonXP 3000+
-Radeon 9600Pro
-1024mb's PC-2700
-Asus A7N8X mobo

I just cannot seem to make that game work properly on this new system :-( and it's driving me up the wall.

I know what the problem is...My friend had the demo from PC Powerplay and he had a Radeon 9600 and it hanged...the Demo wasn't made properly for all cards :o but when the full game was released it then was compatible with more card :)

I actualy did mention that it ran great on my 9600Pro and not my 6800gt, I also mentioned trying the full retail version and it did the same thing :-).
