Do you guys no of a site that will let you download at up to 4MBPS , i just got this new connection and i wanted to see how far can it go

MB = MegaBytes
Mb = MegaBits

Basically, divide 4 megabits by 8 to get the speed in megabytes. (4Mbps is about 0.5MBps)

If you know the metric system, it's pretty much the same, just moving the zeros. I did this a lot in physics, mega, tetra, giga, hexa, and so on. These computer measurements are usually based on the metric system since the American System of measuring stuff is kind of dying.

I think it just depends on how far is the server from your location. for that purpose you can use download accelerators. basically they divide the file into many parts and get that from different servers, and choose the server that can transfer the data with the fastest speed. I use internet download manager for that.

For downloding purpose I feel www.download.com is good. You can find most of the popular freeware or shareware softwares there.

Symantec and Microsoft servers will feed a T3 easy (i.e., 44.45Mbits). If you know people who have access to OC lines and such you can do your private testing too
