FAT32 or NTFS?

I bought a WD Essential 750 GB external.

I am in the process of backing up my movies.

I backed a few up as ISO files on my internal drives and it created one fiel.

I backed 3 dvd's as ISO files yesterday on my new external drive and noticed it created 6 files.

Does this have anything to do with the drive being formatted as FAT32 becuase the manula says something about FAT32 and files being no bigger than 4gb.

Should I format the drive to NTFS?

Yes, at 750GB, definitely format to NTFS. And you are correct, FAT32 has a max file size of 4GB, so that's probably the cause of the splitting.

Thanks for the help. Will start the format now. This is off topic but if the extraction from DVD to HD is successful and the burn works, what are the odds that the DVD will be ok without watching to check.

I used to listen to entire cd's after burning to ensure they are good but with DVD's it would just take too long.

If you are using Windows 98 along with Windows XP(Dual OS) then you must stick with FAT32. Or else you should format with NTFS format as it works better than FAT32 in Win xp
