Feedback on My Build

I am trying to build a decent computer for as cheap as possible. I do a bit of everything, so the system should fairly balanced. Right now, I am trying to scavenge ~$700, but I may get more or less, not sure.

For now, this is what I am looking at, have I made any compatibility mistakes? Also, would anything here bottleneck me?

Case: Rosewill CHALLENGER
HHD: 250GB, 7200RPM, SATA 6Gb/s
GPU: GeForce 550 Ti 1GB VRAM
PSU: 430W
MB: LGA 1155 ATX
CPU: i5-2380P

Totals up to $650 CAD.

Is it worth it? Is everything compatible? Is there a major bottleneck? And on a resource intensive game such as Skyrim, how would it hold out? If I was about to get more money, what would be the best thing to upgrade? If I couldn't get that much, what should I replace with a cheaper part? Lastly, how well would it run with Linux?

You will be bottlenecked by the 550ti. They aren't the best cards for the money. A 6850 is considerably faster for the same price, but then linux won't run well on it.

Best thing would to get a 460, especially when running linux. Faster than a 550ti, and around the same price:

You need a different power supply. That's the one part you do not want to skimp on. Get at least a 500w from the brands corsair, antec, silverstone, seasonic, NZXT, pc power and cooling, or xfx.

You'll be limited in upgrades with that motherboard. I don't believe the H61 chipset will be able to support the new intel chips, not sure. And the one you chose doesn't seem like it has good reviews. I'd go to this Asrock:

And then you'll need RAM.

My suggestion? Save your money up if you want a build that will play skyrim on good settings and be able to upgrade much easier.
 
Wow, did I ever fail. Forgot to list my RAM. XD

Anyway, good catch on the 460, looks much better.

Upgrades aren't important to me, I've been running on single core systems with less than 3GB RAM my whole life, so this'll be a HUGE upgrade for me, and I probably wont replace it for a few years.

Why is a more expensive power supply recommended? Wouldn't 430W be enough?
