Thanks guys!

Look at one of the Novatech Core 2 Duo range or look at Mesh Computers. At the moment the Core 2 Duo's are more powerful and more energy efficient per gigaflop of processing power.

Sounds pretty decent, but it depends on what you want to use it for. If you post back some more info, I'll see if theres any other PC that would suit you better. And also, whats your budget? You'll see my system here, and I got it for £4775 - a bargain.

Its mainly for gaming, i want it to be able to handle quite demanding games at high settings, e.g. oblivion, and most other modern games.

Im looking at something under £1200, but im going to need a good monitor as well. Currently the PC and monitor im looking will come to a total of £1073 Ex VAT (I dont need to pay VAT) There's a really cheap Novatech 22" one i think im going to get:

So do you think this computer will be able to handle modern games or is there another computer i should be looking at instead? Please help, im very new to all this!

This is the Mesh Computers Elite-Quad Express SP:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4GHz, 2x4mb cache)
Vista Home Premium
4GB Crucial DDR2-667MHz
500GB S-ATA2 (16mb cache)
Lightscribe DVD-RW
nVidia 8800GTX (768mb)
Standard ATX Mesh case
HEC 550w PSU (35 amps on the 12v rails if anyone asks)
Asus 650i motherboard (P5N-E I think)
22" TFT (DVI)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer
Creative T6100 (5.1)
Logitech 1500 Internet keyboard/mouse combo
Then some random software

The warranty is 1 year and it all comes to ex. VAT: £1164.41

EDIT: Mesh, like Novatech use standard parts so everything is easily replaceable; if you want to put a second graphics card in you'll need to upgrade the power supply which is easy. Saying that it took me 3 hours to disassemble an old Mesh, they're indestructible.

What is VAT?

Thanks alot the computers there are alot cheaper actually, but can i trust the site?

Also is it worth me upgrading the graphics card from a 256MB to a 768MB? And do you know how long the double memory offer last's?

Sorry for all the questions mate lol.

We've had 2 now and the first one lasted 4 years! But then a fault surge protector damaged the PSU which blew the motherboard, PSU and CPU out. The case is fairly noisy (more of a drone than a buzz though) but well cooled and expandable easily. The 8800GTX is the second best card in the world at the moment whereas the 8600GT is just slightly better than the 7600GT, an average card. For gaming the 8800GTX s a great upgrade. I've no idea how long the double memory offer lasts but you can buy more (Crucial) memory from shops like eBuyer for about £50-£60. If the GFX card is LeadTek then you'll have fun, they love to count their graphics memory.

Holy crap...17%? And I thought TN was high (9.25). But it does say something about reimbursement...I didn't read it all though.

Thats what im doing.

I think im going to go for the MESH Elite Quad Express-SP but upgrade the graphics card to a 768MB one. Im also considering upgrading the case, purely because the current one looks rubbish, its only an extra £30.

So just how powerful is this computer though, will i be able to play the most demanding games on it on high settings? And also is it future proof, so i'll still be able to play the latest games in 3-5 years time?

The Q6600 is a fine CPU and because your PC is made out of standard components overclocking is an option. Unfortunately Crysis looks to be too demanding even for the most powerful rigs in existence in DX10 mode although with DX9 games you'll be fine. It's also easily upgradeable because there are no parts that are specially designed for Mesh.
