File Association Problem

Not sure if this is in the right thread but whatever. I have a laptop, and went to play a DVD for the first time in it. The dialog opened to have me choose how I want to open the file, I chose WMP and said don't ask me again. I didn't realize I didn't have a DVD decoder installed and they all cost money. So I downloaded KM Player which works, but when I put a DVD in it opens up WMP. I went to the file manager to change how it opens and I chose to open with KM Player, but for some reason I can't change the 'Opens With' option. So if I open My Computer and double click the D: drive it opens with KM Player, but when I put in the DVD it opens with WMP automatically.

How do I solve this problem? Is there a way to reset it? Is there a way to just change it?

If you open my computer and go to Tools - Folder Options then click the file types tab in that area you can edit what every known file type opens with. On mine (i don't know about yours) dvd video is twards the top. If that doesn't work you could get something like Tweak UI and turn off autoplay. Personally i hate auto play because by the time it comes up i already have what ever i was going to do with the media i inserted half way done or opened. Hope that helps.

No, unfortunately it does not help. I don't really want to use TweakUI - its for a business laptop and I don't want the person using the laptop to mess around with stuff if that's on there. As far as the first suggestion you said, folder options and the file types tab, that's what I was referring to in my first post, it doesn't work. I cannot change the 'Opens With' settings.
