file compression

hey guys

i recently downloaded a file off the internet that was 5kb in size...
very very very little.. it was a .bz2 zip file which i opened with winrar

the thing is.. it extracted into a 6GB image file.. now i was wandering how i can compress a file that large into a 5kb file also

well im not gonna download it but what kinda image can be 6gb? and cant u left click on the file and it will say like compress or something like that. the program that u used to decompress it can usually be used to compress it.

trust me its not 6gb no way that fits into 5kb i would love to see anyone do this

What you downloaded was an image of a mac os partition. That's 6gb of empty space. Empty space is verrry compressible

You need it to install Mac OS on a PC with PearPC / VMWare

yes i know its for the mac os.. and i just was wandering how that was possible.. 6GB into a 5kb.. i was amazed.. so with that said.. since it it empty space.. i wouldn't be able to compress like say.. a 6GB file into 5kb or like 500mb..

i can compress with winrar.. but the numbers isn't that different..
