file format changed

I d/l'd VLC media player and ran it. Now all of my bins on my computer have a VLC media file showing up instead of the old bin format. How can I get these to go back to the old format and when I try to uncompress them with winrar they come up as a VLC media file instead of the regular bin.
Can someone help me get it back defaulting to the regular bin format?

Delete VLC Player. Add/Remove Programs.

If by any case, that doesn't work, follow the instructions below.

Do a SystemRestore to the previous date.
Start>AllPrograms>Accessories>SystemTools>SystemRestore
Now choose Restore my computer to an earlier time,select that time ( it's a day before you have downloaded VLC player) and click ok.
Your computer will now lose all data downloaded/nstalled after that date.
If you downloaded or installed anything important, backup it ( put on USB or a CD ).
That should solve it.
 
Or goto one of the files then right click / open with.
choose the program you want to detect it and check the box always use this program.
