OK again- I leave answers.yahoo.com to bring you this question-they are not much help over there anymore.

I have a file that is 3.88 GB..........I want to share it with some of my friends...BUT i do not want to pay for anything. Every site i was told and found have a limit of 1.0GB or Less/file. The one that i found that allowed a 5GB file-would delete it after 15 days of being inactive. I also would not like to send it via email because it would take up all there inbox space. Do you have any suggstions?

sending that size to someones email server you could forget that anyway. it would never get through the server.

Might want to start a ftp server. there is plenty of free server and client software. the client could also be a browser to upload or download to or from the server. you could say the server will be up on this date and time for 6hrs then will be shut down. You will have to open ports and make them available through the router, firewall and the server software.
it will be another adventure and requires some home work.

Some software does offer a limited amount of safety and encryption. Strong passwords for access to the server.

Perhaps put it onto a DVD? 3.8 GB will fit onto a DVD and they've got it for as long as they keep it.

Setup your own ftp server, get filezilla SERVER, download install. forward port 21 on your router to your ip, create user/pass and give them to your mates. Then give your friends the public ip, let them login and BAM! Job is done.
