File join detector?

Is there any way to detect if a file has been attached to another file, i.e- keylogger attached to a .jpg or .exe file?

Some keyloggers are still undetectable, so I was wondering since we can "join" files with certain software, if there was any apps to "unjoin" or detect the union of 2 files.

Exactly what software do you speak of? I've never seen a virus attached to a .jpg or anything of the sort...only installers that install more than you know about.

I was reading up on some keyloggers that can be "pre-set-up," attached to say, a .wmv file, sent to someone via e-mail and when they open the file, the keylogger installs quietly. Maybe I misinterpreted the information I was reading?

Well first off any antivirus program should see that.

Second I've never seen that...but naturally that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Whoever finds info on this I'd like to know.
