File transfer from Vista to Win7

Hi Im new here so forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this. Ive just bought a new gaming comp due to old one failing and ive gone for windows 7 home premium, what i want to know is whether i can plug my old hard drive with vista in as a second internal hard drive and then copy and paste all my media files (movies, music, pictures only) to the new drive and then delete everything on the old drive or will adding the two OS cause them to somehow clash and cause problems.

You can add that drive in as a second drive and copy over any data you may need and then format the whole drive.
