i have an old computer which broke when i cleaned it, put pieces back together and it loaded up with a blue error screen (think it was maybe cause i dint put stuff back in right place, but checked and am pretty sure its all correct), and wouldnt even load up to the windows welcome screen or anything. I have now got a new computer but woudl like the information off my old hard drive. is this possible to do this through just connecting a cable??

any help??

Not a cable. Take the old HD out. Switch the jumper to slave. And plug it into your new computer.

No, might be a little slow, your not running windows off the drive.

If you need help switching the HD post another question, or use search.

On the end of the actual HD you pull out of the old computer there are small pins on the side with all the connectors. Look at the diagram on the face of the HD ad move the wire connector to make it slave.

You should have no problem, unless your current computer is SATA. Even then just plugging it in should be alright. (only thing you risk is a VERY slow connection to that HD).

right have disconnected my old HD and now am trying to connect the old one into my new computer, but can not find the type of wire connection needed. do i plug the cable into the small 8pin dockk tihng or the bigger thin long connection bit??
