Filters?

i use them on the front of my case. they restrict the air flow abit, especially if you dont clean them very often, but they do stop alot of dust. i should really clean them every couple of days.

I don't use them...

I think that is better to keep your environment free

of dust, and find it more practical to clean the case

every two months than clean the filter every two days...

How do you manage that do you scrub of you skin with a flat stone gataca style

clean the filter every two days
If you keep free of dust this shouldn't happen

find it more practical to clean the case every two months
That may be, but your case could be heating up rather a lot by the end of two month, some houses are just dustier than other esspecially if near a main road.

OK, that's a good point...

You must be aware of all your circumstances...

and allways know if your computer if heating or not...

It's easy with a good temperature monitoring program...

Nah, dont use them ... mostly cuz the computer never stays in any given state for more than few days anyways :)

Praetor..... Thats not a very good attitude for a MODERATOR!!!. What if something catastrophic happens, like the fan on you CPU decides to stop and you dont notice..... At least a hardware monitor program will sound an alarm at a given temperature...... Or would you just like to sit there and watch you 200 quid processor that you scrimped and saved for go up in smoke.

i meant admin, and the whole point was to say that you should always have an eye on what the temps are doing, incase of an emergency.

1. The last time i checked,
rank_led_bx_5_administrator.gif
Said "Administrator" -- not "moderator"
2. You do your job and go enjoy your time at CF and not get banned and maybe learn a thing or two

Ok lets have a look at the topic title and subject:

Do you use them? What's the impact on air flow?
1. Now the last time I checked, not having filters is not going to save anything
2. A hardware monitor can scream all it wants -- wont do any good if its im in the next room -- which is what the BIOS and thermal regulation is for

Theres a thing about saying what you mean and meaning what you say.... and theres bonus points for reading and staying on topic. Failure to do so doesnt just lose you points, it sends you on a vacation.

I'd say it also depends on what kind of filter. The one that came with my Lian Li case is quite permeable. It lets a good amount of air in but catches some dust. I clean the filter once a week and the inside of my computer every two weeks. Works for me.

Yeah them LianLi ones tend to be really well made :)

Yes, I'm very satisfied. However, quite a bit of dust accumulates on top of the case. The top blowhole exhaust must be pushing most of the air. There's only about a foot of clearance from the top of the case to my desk. I guess it's better than having it in my system.
