Finally upgrading from dual core to quad

Newegg has a promo on the i5-3570 (not K) for $15 off. I've been looking at the i5-3350P for quite a while so when it's only $15 more for the i5-3570 I went for it.

Can't wait. :)
 
You can't go wrong with that CPU, but if you're planning to have it a while, you should maybe look into a k version or a cheap i7.

I reckon the 3570 will be fine, sounds like he got a good deal. True, the non-K chips are harder to overclock but the 3570 is a pretty powerful chip at stock anyway.

Should be a nice upgrade from the i3!

Yea, like I said, you can't go wrong with it for now. My statistics foresee a 25-30% boost in total performance ( lol, me and my statistics :P just for the people who care)
 
LOL, I care. :)

I don't care for OCing anyway. My i3-2105 does well but I wanted to experience a quad core for a change. I think it'll make a difference by going to an Ivy Bridge CPU which open up more features as well as speed things up.

Sometimes my games will freeze because the system is doing things in the background so a quad core should stop that freezing.

Now I can put the i3 back in my first system which have a Celeron G540 but the Celly's not a bad CPU after all.
 
Say guys, what benchmark program around will show the difference between the i3 and the i5 in many areas? Something that will bench the CPU, memory, and drive?

Hopefully it's free. :)
 
That's not a real quad.....
The only real one is a Core2 Quuaaaad! :P
I upgraded one of my web surfers from an E6600 to a Q6600 awhile back. :D

Oi, CORE. 2. QUUUUUAAAADDDDDD is my line! ;)

OK, maybe the i5 doesn't sound quite as awesome, but it is still a quad-core and a pretty good one at that. Love my 2500K. :)

You can run SmileMans CPU benchmark. It's free. I think he would like it if you posted the scores as well.

Well, got my CPU in today and boy is it snappy. :D

EDIT: Ah, forgot about the benchmark comparison. :eek:

Seems that the benchmark aren't working. How long is it supposed to take? I waited 10-15 minutes and nothing.

Which benchmark?

Edit: I read the thread again and found out you meant mine.

So what do you do?
You open de benchmark, then press the run button on the splash screen, then press 4threads button under "benchmark scores". Then it runs your first test, you'll have to do it 2 more times to get the final score.


If the program doesn't open, try this fix:

Load elevated CMD prompt (admin privi's)
"lodctr /s:backup"
"lodctr /r" (this will probably fail with error 2)
Execute "lodctr /r" again until the profile is rebuilt (Close all applications possible)

Maybe if you spent as much time reading the thread as you did needlessly formatting your text, you would see that he got it for $15 OFF, not for $15. Original price minus $15.
