Finaly, im being able to ditch this old P.O.S computer!!!
not really, im actually dumping it onto my dad..HAHAHA!
He decided that since we wernt able to do much for christmas that he would swap computers with me, which is nice because he has a Dell XPS 410 and I have a Dell Dimention 8400... I know they both suck but at least the XPS is easier to put upgrades onto
It's funny because he actually promised me this for my birthday back in september LOL. What happend was that over the summer I was doing a bunch of work doing stuff for my dad, one of the larger projects included cleaning out the ENTIRE garage and hosting a garage sale (some of you may remember the story)
So after this he told me I could either spend ~$1300 on a new computer (that I would buy the parts for and put together myself) AND swap his computer for mine... OR buy a Canon 40D and Canon 100-400L IS
Now, i'll give you some numbers here:
computer would have cost right around $1300
the Canon 100-400L IS costs about $150 more than that ALONE, not including the fact that at the time the 40D was ~$950.
So, me trying to get the most bang for my buck went with the camera gear (and because im VERY into photography and plan to persue it as at LEAST a second job to bring in extra cash) Besides, school was starting up (im not in my Junior year of High School and knew that it was going to be a rough year for me (I screwed up my freshman and part of sophmore years BAD and im still working it all off to re-gain credits) so I knew I wouldnt have much time for gaming anyway.
I ended up getting the gear used:
40D for $790 with only 7K clicks on the shutter (they have been known to reach up near 100K)
and the Canon 100-400L IS for only $850!!! now it didnt come with the lens hood or soft carrying case, BUT the thing was only 3 weeks old and had never even been taken outside. When I got it, it was brand new, this guy could have sold it for brand new condition price and I would have never known it was taken out of the box, everything was EXACTLY like it would be if bought off the shelf, so it was a HUGE deal.
So, right now im in the process of whippin this sucker as clean as I can. deleting programs an such that he wont need or use and backing up all my files and such onto my external HDD.
It should be interesting getting everything up and running on the other computer though, im hoping everything goes smoothly *crosses fingers*
My main concern is this: MY MUSIC!!!
I have been a naughty boy and got just about all of my music from LimeWire and put it onto my iTunes then to my iPod. So, here's a question for ya:
Will I be able to install iTunes on the other computer and plug in my iPod and put the songs on my iPod onto that iTunes?
Or am I pretty much screwed and have to re-download all the songs?
Ok, im done with my happy dance for now
