Because there are still many IE dependent programs / situations within Microsoft operating systems, unfortunately. Because of this most basic computer users see that they need IE for one situation, they may as well use it for most. And of course, Microsoft would never have the brains, nor the courtesy, to allow you to choose which browser you would like for ALL things when using an MS operating system.

I thought IE7 was going to be way different from the previous versions, I downloaded it. I looked at it and thought, OMG! It's Firefox.
 
Yeah, someone else said something about it being a beta... I actually have the Alpha 5 copy installed on my Vista virtual machine. So far it's running great.

you don't have to use IE at all because firefox has something called IE tab so that you can use IE right inside of firefox works great.:D
 
I never knew something such as that existed for Firefox. Does that work well with Windows Updates too? As that's my ONLY reason at present for using IE :)
