Firefox crashes in Vista causing Blue screen

It only happens when I watch News Videos and I also get a lot of script warnings. Do you think it could be my Shockwave Flash?

It's happened at least 5 times this month and it might only be one news network, but I haven't been keeping track to know for sure.

Can almost guarantee this is either video driver or memory issue.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Zip up the following files and attach them to your next post.

C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini082614-01.dmp
C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini082414-01.dmp

Windows will not allow me to zip those two files even after moving them to the desktop.

I decided to physically disconnect my second monitor as well as deleting the settings in NVIDIA Control panel and rebooted. There were a couple of windows updates that happened the same although I didn’t noticed what they were. I haven’t had a blue screen since and think the problem was with the second monitor.

Anyway I’m satisfied at the moment, but will return if it happens again.:)

If you have windows 7 all you have to do is right click on those files and click on send to compressed folder.

I have Vista on this machine and a pop up window says it is not allowed from the system files and when I move them to the desktop I have to go through a lot permissions to get them there, but it’s like they’re locked or something after the move and just will not zip although I can zip other files from ‘send to’ without any problem.
Anyways I’m tired of fooling it and so far I haven’t had an incident after removing the other monitor, so I'm thinking it might be video memory.

Ok so I spoke to soon and it crashed again. I did a search on ntkrnlpa.exe and found that it is a known problem at Microsoft and I found a fix for Windows 7 but I’m still looking for the one for Vista. I don’t know if they are on in the same for both versions, but I’m still searching.

What you have to realize is that windows files like that are just generic errors. We need to see the dump file to accurately determine what is causing the blue screen. It could be an actual program or something else and not the file you listed.

I don't know why I ran the program to create the text file earlier. Isn't that the dump file. I'm confused.

Well Maybe I'll try to rename the files and see if I can zip them or move the dump files to another computer to zip them.

I changed the extension from dmp to tmp but I still can not zip it. Windows knows what it is even in a new directory and with a new name.

Ok so I'm going to try and move it to my XP work computer, but I'm not sure if it will allow me after all the trouble I'm having here, because it has some really tight security blocks that don't allow me do do anything.

You can't change the file extension, leave it the way it is. Use a flash drive and copy the files. Then put them on another computer and zip them up and attach them.

OK this has really become a problem now. I'm getting the blue screen a couple of times a day and i still can't Zip those DMP files.
I tried doing it on my work computer but the Antivirus program will not allow me to copy them over to the computer and I even got a notice from security that I was attempting to do something unauthorized.
So I'm thinking about replacing the video card since it only happens when watching news videos. i have a few cards from other computer that I upgraded but not sure yet about the compatibility.

I don't want to be rude but Vista is maybe the worst mass OS of the last 10 years and the one with most marketing money spent by M$ :)

That maybe but I’ve had this computer with Vista since 2007 and I’ve used it every day since without any problems until about a month ago. I’m pretty sure it’s not Vista but maybe a hardware problem because thats about the time limit for electronics to start failing.

I have to say that this year I bought Win 7 for the very first time and I’ve had more trouble with it in the last 9 months than I ever had with XP. Actually while thinking about it I might rank it in there with Win 3.1 as far as problems for me anyway. Now I’m not saying I would ever use 3.1 again, but right now I think I’d rather have Vista or XP.

I'm not interested in Windows 8 at all because I don't trust apps as far as privacy goes.:)

OK just an update to formally close this thread with the final fix. In the last week or so the problem has gotten really bad and the computer has crashed at least 4 times a day with the last couple of days even having a problem of booting up.

I had an old MSI PCI-E DVI card from another computers upgrade and decided to give it a try because I didn't have much to lose at this point and the computer was just so undependable.

I replaced the video card yesterday and have done everything I could to duplicate it crashing. I had two news sites running with videos running at the same time while my grandson played a video game and it only slowed down a little without it crashing. :good:

One sure method of crashing it was hitting the sleep button while running a video and even that didn't crash. So I think I have the problem fixed, but its only been two days. I'll report back if it happens again. :)
