Hello,

Eversince I started using Firefox, it would never update using the automated update. I also get the message "One or more files could not be updated. Please make sure all other applications are closed and that you have the permission to modify files, and then restart Firefox to try again."

Well, I am the admin, I tried to shut all running apps... but most of the time, I just give up as I mostly use Opera anyway. I just find it such an hassle to go every other week to download the latest Firefox.

What is wrong here ?

Maybe the firefox download you have is bad.. Try un-installing it, and download a fresh copy http://www.getfirefox.com..

Once you donwload and install the new firefox, you should have no problems as to when updates come out every few months or so...

Good Luck... :)

If I download the update manually, its a breeze, but whenever the little window pops up saying there is an update and I try it, it fails...

yeah, so just download the full browser from the link I gave you, un-install firefox and install the download from that link.. From there on you shouldn't ever have any update problems..

Ya, I did the install from there, just like I did the 1st and second time... a few months ago... my problem was when they released new updates... Say I had version 2.0.0.8, when the version .9 came out, I had the problem... I had to download the version manually. Same for when the version .10 came out... and here we are with version .11

I don't have any problems actually installing the update if I want to do it. My problem lies with me trying to rely on the automated update rather than a manual update.

yeah, like I said, bad copy of Firefox.. completely delete/un-install that copy and any other copies/updates you have of it, download the newest one, as they have more fixes in that one, then you shouldn't have any more troubles when new updates do come out...

I'm working on Firefox 3 beta right now.. I have a ton of experience with Firefox over the years, so please trust me, you'll be fine if you do the above.. :)
