Hi,

I've just bought a new FireWire because my other one broke. I used to plug it and it would detect it straight away. This one doesn't. It's deffently the right pins, it's not faulty as i've taken one back and bough a different make so i've tryed 2 cables nothing. Do I have to install any drivers or anything. Thanks

Do you mean you bought a new firewire card, or firewire cable?

If you bought a card, you need to install the drivers that came with it for it to work correctly.

If it's an internal cable you may want to check the BIOS for settings. If the original cable was inserted before first boot of the PC the BIOS may have picked it up. I'm not sure of this. If it's external then you may have a dodgy port.

I tryed booting PC on with the camcoder pluged in still no luck. I used to be able to plug in and it would reconise, I really need help, I need this for christmas, if anyone has any kind of idea, it would help. I wan't to try the last thing possible, then if no luck I know it's the camcorder that needs reparing
