This is my first build and I'm wondering if this is good for my 500 dollar budget, I would end up paying $482.66 plus tax for this build

Mother Board:
MSI ATX DDR3 2133 970 GAMING

CPU:
AMD FX6300 6 CORE BLK EDITION

GPU:
GEFORCE GTX 9800(not sure which one)

RAM:
CORSAIR VENGEANCE 1X8GB DDR3 1600 MHZ

PSU:
EVGA 500W 80+ ATX12V/EPS12V

TOWER:
*salvageable*

STORAGE:
*salvageable*

If the tower and storage aren't salvageable is there any options that wouldnt put me over $550, thanks

I'm a tad concerned the PSU isn't up for the task, also a GTX 650 ti is pretty cheap and performs about the same if not better than the 9800 gtx and runs directx 11 which is required for newer games. Also it probably requires a lot less power, making your PSU sufficient. The 9800 gtx would need a lot of power.

All the 650's will perform essentially the same.

I don't know off the top of my head, but I feel like a 650 is faster than the R7 240.

I would recommend Nvidia over ATI at this time. There is Nvidia shield, which lets you use your computer with a Shield device to play games all around the house and maybe even through the internet. It also has Shadowplay which is a very fast and easy to use tool for recording in-game. I had a 650ti 1GB and for a budget card it worked really well. Also I did a search and the 650 ti is WAY faster than the r7 240. So in this case I would totally recommend the gtx 650 ti.
