First Build... 700-800 price range

Hey guys,

I'm looking to put together a computer for the first time. I want to primarily use it as a gaming system to hook up to my Flat Screen TV...

My budget is between 700-800, of that I do not need to buy an operating system though, just you know.

As of right now I am leaning toward an AMD build, I hear the Core i5 is the best on the market, but it seems I can get so much more for my money going AMD... am I wrong in thinking this? I'm not looking to overclock the computer, and am by no means a hard core gamer... just looking to play mass effect and a couple other games maybe 10 hours a week here... Is in this case AMD a better path?

I would greatly appreciate anyone being able to help me piece together a build. I just know general knowledge, like 8gb of ram... I am a little familiar with NVIDEA GFX cards, I read that the 560ti is probably what I should look for?

Thanks a lot!

32 inch... probably upgrading to a 46 inch soon...

If hooking it to a TV poses an issue it is always an option for me to just stick with my 23 inch screen monitor.

AMD USED to be the cheaper choice, but even the G620 outperforms any Bulldozer or Phenom CPU out right now. G630 is like $80 while the FX 4100 is $125, so that is saying something.

No it doesnt. The Athlon II X3 455 beats it more then it loses to it and its 79 bucks. Plus you can get the 4100 for 109 bucks, not 125. Plus most of the Phenom II and all of the FX are unlocked.
