I am planning to attempt to build my first PC :D
I've swapped out lots of components over the years but never attempted to build one from scratch.
The following are my choices so far:

420 Watt PSU
CPU - AMD ATHLON 64 3200+ 512KB L2 CACHE SOCKET-939 - RETAIL
MOBO - Asus A8V DELUXE FOR AMD SOCKET-939
Seagate 200.0GB 7200RPM 8MB CACHE ATA/100
ATI RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB

I have a TV WONDER PRO REMOTE CONTROL EDITION card in my present PC that I plan to swap into this one, as well as a couple of other hard drives.

I haven't selected a case as yet, still looking.

I plan to add a DVD-ROm, and a DVD burner to this as well
Main use will be video editing with some gaming thrown in.

Comments or suggestions please.

Video editing and burning dvd's will be the main uses.

Currently most of my gaming is on Xbox, but may try some PC games down the road.

Well then make sure you have 1GB of RAM for the video apps and a solid DVD burner (say the Pioneer A08/108) :)

Wild guess: Go for 2 x 512 rather than 1 x 1024 when it comes to RAM, right?
Depends on your strategy.

If you have a dual channel config (recent Intel chips, Socket940/939 and recent Socket462 AMD) and you dont intend to upgrade the memroy soon then 2x512 is the better route (now if you plan on upgrading the memory soon then you might want to get 1x1024 and wait to get another such stick).

Now if you have a nondual channel configh (older AMD/Intel chips, Socket754 chips) then 1x1024 is the route to go :)
