for an optical drive, i recommend lite-on. They are good drives and usually cheaper than the competition. check out www.newegg.com for what you are looking for. Good luck.

I would reccomend a Maxtor 10 hard drive instead of a Seagate. Whatever RAM you choose won't make much of a difference. Make sure latency is under 3. Brand dosn't matter, just get whatever is cheapest, although I would reccomend staying withint your four listed brands. As for DVD burners, I like Pioneer.

well for ram be sure to get 512 x 2 not 1gig x 1. also corsair and ocz make good ram Ocz is all I will use, but then again thats only bec of over clocking.

as far as CPU goes 1.8 and up is fast enough for most anyone so if gaming is even 25% of what your goign to do get an athlon 64. Also make sure its a Rev-e (venice) core. this is the best core to date for a 64s. you can take a 1.8ghz 3000+ to 2600mhz on just air.

Only if its not a DVDburner. Have a look at the CD/DVD101
