my friends dad said its fine with dd2 ram
Your friends dad is a dumbass then, you need an lga1366 X58 motherboard and triple channel ddr3 memory, with a voltage no more than 1.65volts to run a core i7. The nehalem cpu has an on die ddr3 memory controller, and will work for ddr3 memory only.

Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core Processor LGA1366
ASUS P5Q Pro ATX LGA775 P45 DDR2 2PCI-E16 CrossFire 3PCI-E1 2PCI SATA2 Sound GBLAN eSATA Motherboard ~ $159.36

I know but you don't tell someone what to buy if you don't know if they're completable ;)

EDIT: Dang my B-day is Aug 16 :( I'm not a year older
