First Build Mobo Choice

I'm building a computer for the first time, and am rather confused by the large number of motherboards that are out on the market. So far I'm planning on a C2D machine with an 8800GTS. I don't plan on overclocking (at least not anytime in the near future, until I feel like I really know what I'm doing), and I definitely don't need SLI capabilities (not worth the money), but I'm looking for something that is very reliable and will remain useable as far into the future as possible. Any recommendations?

At the risk of being slightly off-topic, how does one choose the right speed of RAM? Does it have something to do with the Mobo FSB speed?

Thanks for tolerating the newb!

MB: Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R (support both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM)or GA-P35-DS4 if you not SLi, but I am not sure if they are being sold in N.America or Europe yet. But I knew they are already released in Asia.

Also, intel will have new CPU and further Price cut on 22 July. You may want to wait.
