Well Budget is $600 Heres what I've come up with:
Microsoft Windows XP Home With SP2 - OEM
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3200BPBOX - Retail
BUFFALO Select 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model DD 4002-512 - Retail
SAPPHIRE 100144 Radeon X1600PRO 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - OEM
MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
HITACHI Deskstar 7K80 HDS728040PLAT20 (0A30209) 40GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA133 Hard Drive - OEM
And A Case that comes with a 450 Power supply. $50.00
Should I expect to be able to asseble this when the parts come in. I have 2 other computers that I can get a CDR from and misc cables.
That puts me at about $600 delivered to my door. Obviosly I want the fastest computer for the money. I may be able to save some money by slightly downgrading some of the items - like the video card. I'm used to a 64MB card... And I want a good one - well good for the money... If theres a good one for $60... Thats fine... I only play NASCAR SimRacing...the only high graphics I need...
I currently have a COMPAQ P SR1218NX
Do you think this computer will be a bit faster than my current COMPAQ? If not I guess it's not worth the build. I guess that's the big question... Will it be faster...??
Any help would be great as the money came through and the wife gave me the thumbs up.
I appreciate it...
Rob..
