First Build project...What do you guys think?

I'm going to first tell you a bit about what I'm wanting to do with this machine.

This is a family computer so a bit of general stuff really. Video editing, lots of surfing the web with multiple accounts open at same time with multiple windows open in each account, general office use too.

What I'm trying to do is to select the best possible motherboard, processor, case and hard drive for my budget and "cheat" a little on the other parts of the system which I can upgrade easily in the future. My children are growing up and wanting to play games on the PC, so I need a good basic platform to start with.

I have selected everything from Novatech as it's only 4 miles away from me.

Here we go! Be gentle with me please ;)

The whole lot including the operating system costs £500.90

What do you guy think....Weak area's? Can I save more money? Is it an overkill?

The Samsung HDD you mentioned caught my eye earlier, but I'm on a strict budget of £500 and I know how easy it is to be tempted by the Dark side.

As for the PSU's I'm looking at the Corsair CX 400W ATX2.2 you've pointed me towards, again because of budget.

I would like to stress that I will be upgrading my system in the future (kind of a work in progress), so if bigger graphics cards are used or larger HDD's are needed I'll add them and any upgraded PSU when I need them.

Are there any savinging on the case I can make? Do I need a top grill for the PSU fan?

OK, just bought this little baby for about £100 below the ticket price and paid £255. http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Barebones/Novatech/BB-9654G2.html

As a plus side it's a more powerful processor but not sure on the power supply and board.

It's forced my hand in some area's but has been already put together and tested.

So only have to worry about the Hard Drive, Graphics card, DVD player/reader writer and operating system now.

The power supply in that is probably complete rubbish.
