I plan on making my first build in 3 weeks. My budget is really hovers around the $1000 mark, but going under or over is cool, although not by much. Right now i plan on getting these components:

Case: Thermaltake Soprano DX @ $116
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811133040

CPU: Intel E6320 @ $173
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819115015

Mobo: Gigabyte 965P-DS3 @ $110
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813128042

PSU: OCZ Gamestream 600w @ 99 (89 after rebate if i can get it in on time)http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=316504

GPU: EVGA 8600GT 256MBSUPERCLOCKED?????? @ $190
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130088

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint 500GB 7200 RMP Sata @ $125
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822152052

Ram: G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 @ $110
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820231098

Total is around $925 but i live in nj and pay tax and shipping, so its around 1050 or so after everything.

Are there any changes you think should be made? This IS supposed to be a gaming computer, and supposed to be on almost 24/7. Overclocked to around 3.0 ghz later on (might think of replacing stock cooling before that).

You're totally right about the video card. I dont know why i even decided on that.
Ill get an 8600 gts. The only thing is i have to pick a brand...

Is that good?

And i guess ill get another PSU. I wanted that one in case i planned on running SLI on a future model someday, so i wouldn't have to get another psu. But i think i wont ever really choose SLI. Buying a better GPU is almost always better and cheaper.

I want a good PSU still though, and the OZC was appealing to me because of its faint blue glare. Another, cheaper PSu with that feature would be great, to compliment the case. Any suggestions are welcome but I'm still looking myself.
Thank you in advance.

Hey. Thanks for the link. I'll get the 600w from there for 99 then. (But is it worth it getting it from here instead of the Egg?) I'll update the original post.

Any other suggestions? I'm mostly wondering about the video card, ram, and compatability right now since I changed the power supply. However, if there is another power supply you would like to recommend, or any other general suggestions, they would be soo welcomed. Thanks.

Yea, I didn't look at all the features of that power supply. I also changed my mind.(Plus it went up 10 dollars overnight lol) But how do u get that it is rated at +12V26As? Two rails, one at 22 and one at 24 = 26A? I'm confused lol.

And the two drives probably would be faster, but itd be more expensive, right?. I'm trying to keep costs down. PLus i'm pretty much a noob at all this right now and not sure if RAID is right for me at this time.

Alright. I just thought of changing my graphics card. I think I'm going to wait a little bit and get vista, a dx10 card, and a quad core together, using the components i have right now. However, that would mean that i wouldn't get the 8600 gts that I was planning on before.

Right now I am looking for the best dx9 card i can get for about 130 or cheaper for pci express x 16. i really know that much about dx 9 cards since ive almost always been using on board graphics.
