This is the parts list for my first build. Could you guys point out any compatability issues or things I’ve left out? Could you tell me if any of this is unnecessary? I don’t play games at all, but I wanted a machine that could handle programs like Keyhole and Wold Wind . This is also going to be my TV (small apartment). Otherwise, this is for web surfing, homework, etc.

New Parts:
Thermaltake Tenor Case
ABIT ATX Intel Motherboard
1GB DDR
Video Card (This one I’m not sure about. Can you recommend one?)
TV/FM Tuner Card
DVD/CDR/RW Burner
Floppy Drive with SD, CF Card Reader
Hard Drive

From Old Dell Computer:
All Peripherals
Extra USB Ports Card
Ethernet Card
Maybe Hard Drive
 
You could get something like a 9600AIW to cover your video card and tv tuner. If you really want that motherboard (and there is nothing wrong with it) it's good, but you could save some money by getting one that is i865 based instead of i875.

I thought about that, but since they said they aren't gamers that seemed overkill, a 9600AIW should handle both programs, but if you want to be safe a 9800AIW will for sure.
 
setting up a sata hard drive was kinda annoying for me... i wished i got an ide but i got it working now because i installed my old ide one from my previous comp and than added my sata.
i dunno if it was just hard for me or maybe it was my mobo but i dunno just something i wanted to add
