CoolerMaster HAF 912 Advanced

CoolerMaster GX 550W PSU

Pioneer DVR-219L DVDRW OEM

Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB WD5002AALX

Gigabyte Radeon HD6770 Ultra Durable 1GB (x2)

Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Motherboard

how about a single Gigabyte Radeon HD6950 1GB Overclocked
and i mentioned a Pioneer DVR-219L DVDRW OEM which i beleive writes cd and dvd, please correct me if im wrong

Don't go for crossfire, you'll get terrible tearing and you wont notice the difference in FPS at all. In Custom PC, they also said that the ATI 6970 was the best graphics card you can get for your money today, yes, even better than the almighty 6990. (6970 is about £270).
Good luck with your build.

the 6970 is just out of my budget, would a 6950 2G be a better choice than the 6950 1G as i can afford that, just.

If your monitor is more than 1920x1080, you'll need a 2GB. 1GB is enough for 1920x1080.

Great choice on the motherboard and hard drive. Could consider a SSD. And the new AMD CPUs are coming out in the near future. You could always sell the 965 easily.

Get the 2GB. You'll be kicking yourself later if you don't. Intensive games like Crysis, GTA IV, ARMA 2 etc will all happily use more than 1GB of VRAM.

The 965 has little benefit over the 955, and is more expensive. If you are on a tight budget, get the 955 instead.

The Samsung F3 1TB is one of if not the fastest 7200RPM HDD out there at the moment, immensely popular and is only $60: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185

I'm not a fan of SLI/Crossfire either. I prefer a nice beefy single card.

thanks guys for all the advice, ive decided to go for a Sapphire Radeon HD6950 2GB Dirt3 Edition and change the power supply to a Corsair TX-650 V2 other than that ill go with what i listed in the first post

If you want you can save some on the PSU.But a 650W Corsair would give a you more head room.
Make sure that the Western Digital Drive is a SATA III drive :D.
Good decision going for the 2GB of VRAM since you are gaming at 1920x1080 and also more future-proof :D
