i had a post up a few days ago which i had picked out a build for myself. I got some opinions and took some advice on what parts to use. im trying to keep my budget under 1000 Euro but i have chosen parts without o/s for 960 Euro.

I would really like to get the price down a bit using this site because they seem the cheapest for me. But if you guys think this would be a very good sytem for my budget i will stick with what i have chosen and get the o/s for the extra money. Anyway here it is, what do you think?

Could anyone point me in the right direction to what version of xp i should purchase from that site also. Thanks

I think you get the wrong Harddisk. With your spec, you should that SATA II Harddisk.
And if you want 320GB, why don't you use 2 160GB Harddisk? It will be faster. (Although more expensive.)
If you decide to ocing your PC, Would it be better to buy Ram with PC6400?

im not sure on any of the techincal phrases and what they mean. its the first time im building a pc. ive tried to read as much as i can but still some of the stuff confuses me. im just not 100% sure on the compatibility of the componets ive picked so if anyone would like to help me pick a system from that site for a budget of 1000 euro including o/s i would appreciate it. prefferably with a core 2 duo
I will be using the pc most of the time for normal computing, surfing the net, photoshop etc. but would also like the speed and power to run games with ease. Can anyone help?

By the way, are you really hurry to build the new computer?
I have heard that the NVIDIA 8 series middle range GPU is comming soon (Planned to release within 2007 Q1)
Also, intel will release the E6?20 and E4?20 series (22nd April), and the E6?00 will be sell at lower price. But to be honest, I don't know how long it will take effect in Ireland.
May be it worth to wait till May.

The new Intel will come out around April 22... not really sure about the NVidia GPU...

Im waiting for those to come out as well... cant wait...

the sooner the better really. it dont really mind whats coming out soon as long as i have a decent pc to play games and stuff. would everything ive chosen be ok to be used together. do you guys think this would be a decent set-up. if you say yes ill hit that order button :)

for that price i hope they are lol. a friend of mine said that the mobo i picked out had no pci slot. is that necessary for my setup or for future changes?

Used this as an excuse to convert a case fan to run directly off a MOLEX, but anyways:

2x PCI-E x16 (Crossfire?)
3x PCI-E x1 - These are disabled if you use the 2nd PCI-E x16 slot
2x PCI

You may only ever need a PCI slot now if you get a sound card, some TV cards are PCI-E x1 and you can get USB WiFi adapters etc...
