First go at building.

Hi all, if I was to attempt to build a computer do you think these components would work together? I am shooting for under 1500 dollars. Will use it for gaming mainly, as I use my laptop for work.

I got these all from newegg.com. I read some threads here, and spoke with a couple of other guys outside these forums too. So this was my attempt.

If I decided further down the track that I wanted to upgrade processor would that be difficult?

I have never built a computer before and know nothing about them. But, I am willing to give it a go. Knowing me there is something I have missed on my list. Anyway any feedback, good or bad, would be appreciated. Am I even in the right ballpark?

Looks pretty good. A couple of things I would change:

Your motherboard is not the right socket. You need an 1155 socket motherboard, like this:

I'd get 1600mhz RAM:

Change out your power supply, now. Poor quality unit. Look for something from corsair, antec, pc power and cooling, silverstone, seasonic, NZXT, or XFX. 600-700w for one video card, and if you ever want to upgrade and get another video card, go 700-800w.

For the CPU, hopefully with the motherboard change, you have enough money for a 3570k.

Can be overclocked, so there would be no reason to upgrade for at least 5 years.

With that, I'd also spend the measly $30 for a proper CPU cooler:

What kind of speakers/headphones do you have? If you didn't spend much on those, pointless to get a high-end sound card. There's onboard audio on the motherboard.

Hope that answered any questions.

Thanks I made the changes that you suggested. Thanks. Saved quite a bit of money. I just have basic speakers from Walmart. Altec is the brand, and I am happy enough with those. I removed the sound card and added the CPU cooler like you suggested. Thanks for your assistance and time.

similar price, way faster

Thanks, I added the one you linked to. Ah, thanks for the windows reminder to. I totally forgot about that.
