First OC attempt by a OC'ing newb

I'm trying to OC my i5 up a tad from 2.67
I don't want to go overboard as I've never done this before. I upped my frequency from 133 to 143 and my ratio from 17 to 20.
I got my processor up to 2.8 that way and my pc booted up fine. Is what I did ok? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have the stock cooler or an aftermarket cooler?

Use Prime 95 and a program like "core temp" to see if everything is stable.

With my Zalman cooler a frequency of 160 was cooelr than stock. No voltage mod. I also changed the RAM to 133 so it would clock to 1600 and it ran fine. No problems fully stressed under prime.

For some reason my Mobo auto OC can't run any stable overclock... I mean zero, but manual is fine.

With an aftermarket cooler you OC (and mine) is mild.

I've got a cooler master hyper fan for my CPU. I'm nervous about tweaking voltages or oc'ing really high. Any thoughts on how high I could get my base clock with a 20 multiplier without having to tweak voltages or messing up my pc? If I do something wrong will it take me back to the bios automatically? Do I need to worry about ram timings and voltages if I don't plan to OC my ram? I have an MSI MB with the OC Genie but it didn't work. Just kept resetting then changed everything back to default. Do I need to turn off turbo boost or any other features as well?
