First PC build. Need some help

I have a disc for windows 7 home premium, also have a disc drive, ssd, and a hard drive. But I only have to sata ports on my motherboard. Am I able to install Windows onto the ssd and then later on disconnect the sata cable from the disc drive and connect it to the hard drive without losing anything?

Yes. A dvd drive doesn't hold data like a hard drive does. Just make sure the system is shut down before you unplug cable.

Alternatively you could place the Windows installer on a USB drive and not have to finagle with burning a CD, connecting the optical drive and similar.
