So I'm thinking of building a computer for the first time. My budget is around $700 and I am just looking for an everyday computer NOT for gaming. Probably some minimal audio/photo editing. Here is what I found on newegg.com...

The biggest problem I have is with the CPU. I am not sure whether I want dual or quad-core. Here are two products I found.

CPU:

or

Mobo:

Optical Drive:

Wireless Card:

Video Card: (do I need this if I'm not gaming?)

Cords: (3)

How does this all shape up?

CPU & Mobo combo: AMD Phenom IIx3 720BE + ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD 790GX

Or just get the gigabyte you've chosen

Hard disk: 500GB with 8MB cache is too slow...

wireless adaptor: go for 11 b/g/n

Video card: 4350 is not much better than the onboard 790GX chipset. Get 4650 with GDDR3 if you can afford.3

monitor - that one is no good as it only take VGA

Cord - I don't see it necessary. up to you

Thanks for your help man.

Unfortunately that combo deal is expired already but I might just buy them seperately and not get a video card. I'm not too knowledgeable about this stuff but will I need a separate video card from the onboard one if I'm not using my computer for movies/games?

The cords I'm buying I thought I would need since some of my products are OEM and don't come with their own cords? If that's wrong please tell me so I don't buy them haha

I use this board for my Media PC, which has Vista Ultimate and Aero works perfectly.
I use the onboard graphics and we watch movies and can play basic games and some other games on low settings.

Retail Motherboards will come with all the connectors cables you need to plug in the drives.

I don't know how serious photo/video editing you will going for.
If you want to keep price down, I suggest you get a Mobo with lastest 785G chipset.
