Because am3 cpus have both a ddr3 and ddr2 controller, the am2+ cpu only has a ddr2 controller. Hence the am3 being backward compatible. Check your thread, its been updated;)

so with the 710 i dont need to flash anything? just install the cpu in the motherboard?

You might need to flash the bios for that board, go for something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131381

with this 1 i dont need to flash anything? and btw the link u posted it doesnt have a Onboard Video Chipset and D-Sub + DVI...would they matter much and if i dont have my video card with it i cant use it or what? cause i have to slowly upgrade on what i have.

Other than the memory controller. The AM3 has 938 pins, the AM2/+ has 940 pins. Hence keeps you from putting a AM2/+ processor with a DDR2 memory controller in a AM3 board with DDR3 slots.

really? then that means i cant mixed my ddr2 2 gigs with the ddr3 memory on the am3 board?

With that board you wouldnt need to flash, and yes you would need a dedicted gfx card.

For the memory- nope, cant mix and match ddr2/3.

You can use the same type of RAM I originally recommended to you. You can always upgrade your memory to 4 gigabytes of PC2 8500 later. 4 gigabytes of PC2 8500 is going to run you about double of what you would pay for 2 gigabytes of PC2 6400 memory. (I personally prefer Patriot RAM as their products are made in the U.S.A.) 2 gigabytes of memory should be enough.

Patriot Extreme Performance 2 gigabytes (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - $27
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220174

Also, don't forget the other components in the list that I originally recommended to you that aren't in your present list.

Edit: Here is a fixed link:

Patriot Extreme Performance 2 gigabytes 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - $27
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220174

If you want to buy 4 gigabytes (4096 megabytes) of PC2 6400 RAM it will cost you $23 more.

Broken link... This is the memory id recommend though:

i look through both seems good but is this ram the best for gamers?? i was wondering how bout OCZ, Crucial, G.SKILL and CORSAIR?

i was also wondering what does Cas Latency, and timing means? on the ram it has CL 4-4-4-12 the lower the timing the better it is right? but does it effect anything? also overclocking its possible with all ram cards right? cause i heard you can do it with the cpu and gfx card also... its great to do that but its a huge risk if done wrong?

All the following companies make good quality Random Access Memory:
Corsair
Crucial
G.Skill
Kingston
Mushkin
OCZ
Patriot
PNY
pqi
Super Talent

Like I stated before I tend to buy Patriot brand memory because it is made in the United States but any of the above companies make good RAM.

CAS Latency stands for Column Address Strobe Latency. I tend to ignore CAS Latency and focus specifically on PC rating of RAM. PC rating of memory is an estimate of the transfer rate. A PC 6400 (also written as PC2 6400) means an estimated transfer rate of up to 6400 megabytes per second. If you don't care about spending more money on RAM go with PC2 8500 RAM.

Patriot Extreme Performance 4 gigabytes (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Desktop Memory - $55

is possible to upgrade with 2 more patriot right? or any brand if it doesnt matter if i was gonna get 8 gigs of ram

By going to the manufacturers website and checking the CPU support list.

ok thanks

i was reading the comments you have to change the timings and voltages? also would it matter if i have 2 different sets of ram?
Do you already have one set? Most memories you need to set some of the timings though, if you already have a set of that patriot then you would want to get a duplicate pair though.
